    Samira Alikhanzadeh was taught painting from early on by Aydin Aghdashloo. She graduated in painting from Azad University in Tehran in 1998. Next to her works with old photographs from the 1940s and 1950s, depicting mainly Iranian women that she mounts on board or Perspex with paint and applied mirror fragments, she also uses carpets in more recent works.

    Works of hers are held by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for example. The artist lives in Tehran and took part in the Venice Biennale of 2015. (tm)
