    An Italian painter, especially active in Venice in the early 1660s, Sebastiano Bombelli did many full-length portraits of Venetian nobility, dressed in "full regalia". He was much taken with the painterly freedom and naturalism of 16th-century Venetian artists, particularly Veronese, whose works he copied." (answers.com)

    He was also active in Germany, where he visited most of the courts. It is written that he "was perhaps the most influential Italian portrait lpainter of the later 17th century" (answers.com)

    He apprenticed with his father, Valentino Bombelli, in their native town of Udine, and he also studied with his godfather Girolamo Lugaro, a painter in Mannerist style.
