Having completed the seven year apprenticeship Simon started work in London as a self-employed artist in 1993. Early work included studio work for the sculptor Nathan David FRBS and designing and carving memorial stones for Memorials by Artists. In 1997 he was commissioned to carve an altar piece for the chapel in the new school building of his alma mater, St. James. In 2013 Simon was elected a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
