Soledad Sevilla was born in Valencia (Spain) in 1944. She received her formal education at the San Jorge School of Fine Arts in the legendary city of Barcelona where she also began her artistic career with a successful solo show in 1969. Although she did participate in group shows, it was the large scale of the works in her solo exhibitions that attracted and attract - important public and private commissioned work.

At the beginning of the 1980s, she left for the United States where she worked on 'Las Meninas', a series of works dedicated to the in-depth study of the work of Velázquez. This was followed by another work based on the Alhambra and its architecture.
