    Louis-Philippe spent much of his youth in exile, finally settling in England in 1800. In November, 1809, he married Maria Amalia Teresa, a Princess of the Two Sicilies. The couple, who doted on each other, would go on to have ten children.With the fall of Napoleon and the Bourbon Restoration of 1814, Louis Philippe returned to France where he stood in opposition to the repressive, conservative regimes of Louis XVIII and Charles X, earning himself wide-spread support. In July 1830, an uprising toppled Charles X and the Chamber of Deputies proclaimed Louis Philippe as King.
