At the Institute of Fine Arts in Bucharest, Sorin Dumitrescu was Corneliu Baba's student and colleague of important names in Romanian contemporary art, such as ?tefan Câltia or Sorin Ilfoveanu. He will make his debut in 1969 in a collective exhibition organized in Bra?ov, and in 1981 he founds, together with other artists, the group "9 + 1", as a reaction to the communist regime and the way it related to local artistic values. True creativity, as the artist states, is beyond the cognitive capacities of the human being.
