    Spyridon Scarvelli was a Greek artist born in 1868 in Kerkyra/Corfu. He trained in Trieste and Rome and became known for his atmospheric, light-filled landscapes, vedute, and marine paintings, executed almost exclusively in watercolor. Scarvelli loved to depict motifs from Egypt, Italy, and Greece. He passed away in 1942 in his birthplace of Kerkyra/Corfu. His works are in important private and public collections such as the National Gallery in Athens.
