    Stanislaw Sawiczewski was a Polish artist who graduated from the Krakow School of Fine Arts and continued his education at the Munich Academy, Vienna, and Wroclaw. He settled permanently in Warsaw and became famous as a talented illustrator, presenting his works to a wider audience on behalf of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts and the artistic group "Pro Arte". In 1921, he became a professor at the newly established School of Fine Arts. He liked to present genre scenes, architectural views, nudes, and portraits. One of his notable works is "A History Lesson" from 1912, which depicts a teacher transferring knowledge to a student using a map.
