    Stanley Bate (b.1903-d.1972)

    An abstract figure painter, designer and illustrator, he served as art supervisor and director at Encyclopedia Britannica in New York from 1927 to 1929. He also taught at the Art Students League of New York and his illustration appeared in Outdoor Life, among others.
