    Taiyang Yang was born in Guilin, Guangxi province in 1909. He is also known by the name Yang Xuewu. In his late year, he is known as Ludi Shanweng.

    He graduated from the Shanghai Arts College in 1931 and furthered his studies at Nihon University in Japan in 1935.

    In 1937, he abandoned his plan to Paris to become an artist and returned home to participate in the war against Japan. He published poetry and painted a large number of paintings reflecting the struggles of life. He then established a magazine.

    In 1957, Yang Taiyang and Fu Baoshi led the Chinese artists to countries in Eastern Europe including Romania, Czechoslovakia and the Soviet Union for exchange visits. He was invited to Ja...
