    The artist Konok Tamás was born in Budapest, where he attended the Academy of Fine Arts from 1948 until 1953 as the master pupil of Aurél Bernáth. In 1959, he received a grant, which enabled him to move to Paris. In 1963, he began working in New York and California. He received additional support by a grant by the A.H. Hartford Foundation.

    Tamás later started working as a professor at the Technical University in Budapest since 1982. In 1998, he was awarded the most prestigious prize for a Hungarian artist, the Kossuth-Prize. The artist lives in Budapest and Paris.
