    Son of a German painter and a Venetian mother, he was the brother of Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari and two other virtuoso musicians. He studied painting at the Academy of Venice by getting in touch with Guglielmo Ciardi, Bortoluzzi and Fragiacomo. Infuriated by the romantic influence of Boecklin, he subsequently became interested in the Prussian secessionists and later on the Bavarian ones. A fresh and pleasant painter of austere landscapes, bright and rich in festive green tones, he was a clever and resourceful decorator. At the summit of a group of young artists he participated in the collective exhibitions of 'Aratro' at Cà Pesaro in Venice and at the first 'Secession Romana'.
