  • Biography

    Thomas Charles Leeson Rowbotham (1823-1875)

He was born in Dublin, Ireland and moved to London, England to pursue a career as a successful landscape and marine artist. He exhibited frequently at the Royal Academy and Suffolk Street. His artistic skill was most probably learned from his father Thomas Leeson Scarse Rowbotham (1783-1853), who was a Professor of Fine Arts at the Royal Naval School in Greenwich. And the tradition continued to Thomas Charles' son Charles Rowbotham (1856-1921) who went on to pursue a successful career as a painter as well.
