    Thomas Harris Robinson, born in Nova Scotia on August 23, 1834, was noted for paintings of horses and dogs, landscape, and genre paintings. He apprenticed to Philip Allen to learn calico designing. He studied at Cummins Art School, N.Y. He spent three years in London, Paris, Rome and Venice studying the masters and studied with Courbet and A. Bonheur while in Paris. He made return trips back to Europe over the years. He purchased farm in Algiers, 1878. He was a member of the Providence Art Club.
