    Tiburcio Ortiz was born in 1945 in Santa Catalina Chinango, Oaxaca, Mexico. His approach and interest in the plastic arts was manifested since he was a child, because he built his own dolls and copied the revolutionary prints of Alberto Beltrán. Years later, in Mexico City, he joined the army and the workshop of the same institution, where he made prostheses for hands or eyes, as well as busts of prominent personalities of the country's history. The person in charge of the workshop, who studied at the San Carlos Academy, recommended Tiburcio Ortiz to formally study sculpture. There he studied from 1966 to 1970 with teachers like Manuel Silva Guerrero, Alberto de la Vega and Elizabeth Catlett, who taught him to simplify the forms with feSÁINZ, Luis Ignacio et al.
