    Tora Vega Holmström was a Swedish modernist painter born in Åkarp, Skåne. She studied art in Austria and learned to use powerful and flaming colors from Adolf Hölzel's color theory. She was also influenced by Axel Törneman, Gabriele Münter, and Wassily Kandinsky's paintings. She studied at Valand in Gothenburg with Carl Wilhelmson as her teacher and encountered various art movements such as Cubism, Expressionism, Futurism, and Orphism in Paris during the early 20th century. She had close contact with artists from the German avant-garde. Tora Vega Holmström was a strong and independent personality who distinguished herself early on as a modernist.
