    Tranquillo Cremona was born in Pavia, Italy in 1837. Tranquillo studied in Venice with Giovanni Carnovali, later moving to Milan. In Milan, Tranquillo became a member of the young Milanese Scapigliature movements of writers and artists. The group's criticism was directed against the positivist sciences. Tranquillo painted figurative motifs, in particular women's portraits. His style is characterized by a free, airy painting style. Tranquillo Cremona died in 1878, in Milan, at age 41. His early death was probably the result of poisoning by color pigments.

    Tranquillo Cremona was born in Pavia in 1837. He died in Milan in 1878. He was one of the prominent members of the Scapigliatura.

    His works are in many Italian museums, including the Civic Museums of Pavia, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Torino and the Galleria Ricci Oddi of Piacenza.
