    Vaclav Rozanek was born on September 5, 1913 in Písek, Czech Republis. In the years 1924–1928, he studied at the high school in Pisek. He did not finish school as he trained as a mechanical locksmith. He remained faithful to his profession, as well as to the town of Písek and his wife Vlasta, whom he married in 1942.

    He painted and drew after his high school studies with Professor Josef Velenovský. During World War II, he drew urban motifs, people in cafes and at railway stations. He painted still lifes influenced by Czech cubism, the landscape around Písek and scenes from the engineering works where he worked.
