Vasile Grigore was a Romanian painter who earned his place among the most important representatives of contemporary painting. He was in the same generation as Viorel Marginean in Professor Ioan Mar?ic’s class and was an adept of Ciucurencu. Grigore was drawn to easel painting, either standing before the motif or in his workshop, and he never parted from the realism of the vision, even though he was aware of the experiences of the avant-garde currents. He manifested tendencies towards geometrization and essentialization, close to abstraction, staying, however, in the sphere of the figurative, which he fostered within the tackled genres - still lives, landscapes, or interiors....
