    Vasili Shukhaev was Russian painter, graphic and theatre artist. He was born in Moscow, studied at Stroganov College in 1897-1905 and at the Imperial Academy of Arts as a non-enrolled student in 1906-1912.

    He began exhibiting in 1909. During 1913-1914, on received grant, he traveled in Italy with his friend Alexander Jacovleff. In 1914, he returned to Petrograd. He taught in New Art Studio, Petrograd from 1915; at Imperial Academy of Arts from 1917; at Shtiglits Technical Drawing College in 1916-1918; at Petrograd Free Art Education Studios in 1918-1920.

    Shukhaev was a member of Mir Iskusstva (World of Art) since 1917 and participated in it's exhibitions in 1918 (70 works), 1921 and 1927.<...
