Huguet made his first trip to Egypt in 1852 at the age of seventeen and the following year traveled with the marine painter Jean-Baptiste Durand-Brager in Crimea. He began exhibiting at the Salon de Marseille and the Paris Salon in 1859 and exhibited his works from 1893 to the Society of French Orientalist painters.
