    Vivian Maude Walker (1903-1994)

    She was widely recognized in the early 1940s as one of Canada's foremost Impressionist artists. But she did not gain recognition in the USA until 1954 when 4 of her paintings were exhibited at the Canadian Exhibition in Washington D.C. and were enthusiastically received by the American press.

    She was born in 1903 (Vivian Maude Knox) in Hawkesbury, Ontario. She studied at I'Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Montreal, at Sir George William's College, and the School of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. She was a student of Adam Sherriff Scott, and while in New York studied portraiture with E. Stanley Turnbull. She worked in oil and pastel, and is noted for her impressionist land...
