    Vladimir Leonidovich Murawjoff/ Muraviev (1861-1940)

    Count Vladimir Leonidovich Murawjoff was born in 1861 in St. Petersburg. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg under the renowned landscape painters Mikhail Klodt and Julius von Klever. He soon became a leading Russian painter of hunting themes. His passion was not only painting but poetry as well in which he expresses his love for the Russian nature that is on the other hand also reflected in his atmospherically charged landscapes. The artist often used mixed media to achieve a differentiated way of painting and furthermore to illustrate the grandeur and vastness of the landscape....
