    The following biography is from Lee Morrison, author of a biography on Walter Hook, The Art of Walter Hook.

    Walter Hook, painter and printmaker, was a Montana native. He received his Masters Degree in Art from the University of New Mexico in 1950, and was hired as chair of the University of Montana Art Department.

    Walter Hook received some 90 awards from juried exhibitions and had over 80 one- man shows. In 1972 he was elected an Associate of the National Academy of Design, the nation's oldest artist's honorary organization.

    His mediums painting, sculpture, mixed media, printmaking.

    His style is post-war surrealism....
