Walter Louis Emile Sauer was a Belgian artist who achieved international recognition in the early 1920s. He entered the decorative painting section of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels at a young age and later focused on drawing, portraying women in various roles. Sauer's work was one of the last manifestations of Symbolism in Belgium and was highly successful.
