    Walter Waentig (* 17. November 1881 in Zittau ; Ã 7. September 1962 in Gaienhofen[1]) was a German painter, graphic artist and conservationist.

    Waentig was born in 1881 as the son of an old-fed family of publishing in the Upper Lusatian town of Zittau in Saxony. After completing the Realgymnasium, he came to the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts at the age of only 16. Here he attended the master class , with whom he went to the Willinghaus painting colony in 1902.

    In 1907, Waentig moved to Gleimenhain near Alsfeld, where he set up a studio in a barn, went to Munich in 1911 and came to Gaienhofen on the Höri peninsula on Lake Constance after the First World War with his wife Eleonore. In 1921, Waent acquired the "Haus am Erlenloh", ...
