    Wega Nery Gomes Pinto (Corumbá, MT, Brazil, 1912 - Guarujá, SP, Brazil, 2007)

    Painter, designer, poet and teacher. In the 1930s, she published poems in the magazine O Malho (a Parnassus Female), as "Vera Nunes". From 1946 to 1949, she studied drawing and painting at the School of Fine Arts in São Paulo. In the 1950s, she had classes with Joaquim da Rocha Ferreira (1900-1965) and Yoshiya Takaoka (1909-1978), with whom she participated in the Guanabara Group (1950-1959), a group of plastic artists. In 1953, she studied the Atelier-Abstraction of Samson Flexor (1907-1971), and produced her first abstract paintings, with geometric trend.
