    Werner Neuhaus, a Swiss artist, was born in Burgdorf and later moved to Basel at the age of 13. He studied lithography and painting in Basel, initially following a dark-toned style common in the Basel school. After studying with Cuno Amiet and befriending other artists like Albert Müller and Hermann Scherer, Neuhaus shifted towards a coloristically intensive style, focusing on painting Ticino landscapes and portraits. He joined the artists' group "Rot-Blau" but later turned to a naturalistic approach inspired by Albert Anker, depicting peasants, children, and local landscapes. Neuhaus married Hede Gfeller and lived in Emmental from 1927 onwards....
