    Wilhelm Schreuer was born in Wesel in 1866. Around 1884/90, he was trained by Peter Janssen (1844-1908), who was active as the head of the Academy in Dusseldorf.

    Schreuer initially focused on Rococo and Empire costume compositions. He later also painted street and war scenes. Examples of his artistic output are represented, for instance, at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne, at the National Galerie in Berlin as well as at the Kunstmuseum in Dusseldorf. Schreuer died in 1993. (cbo)
