    William John Hopkinson (1887 – 1970) [1]

    A Canadian painter, draftsman and educator, William John Hopkinson’s mediums included oils (with a palette knife), watercolors and pencil. His best known subjects are rural landscapes, marine scenes and street scenes. The painting locations included Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Alberta, British Columbia, Massachusetts, New York State and London, England (trip in 1964). His styles could be described as Fauvism*, Impressionism* and Plein Air Painting*. The askART auction results have some excellent illustrations of his oeuvre.
