About William Prince

  • Biography

    An illustrator and author, William Meade Prince was noted for his magazine illustrations including for The Saturday Evening Post, Red Book, Cosmopolitan, and Collier's. He also did illustrations for many books by others, and for advertisements. He created the King Feature comic strip Aladdin Junior.

    In 1950, he wrote the book The Southern Part of Heaven, about his childhood in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Today, many have used the book's title as a nickname for the city of Chapel Hill.

    In November of 1951, he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
