    Patricia Jobe Pierce wrote an article about William S. Barrett titled "William S. Barrett and His Mistress," published in "Yankee Magazine," 1972.

    From Brooklyn, William Barrett spent many summers at Rockport, Maine. He was a founding member of the Society of Brooklyn Painters, and taught watercolor classes. From 1883-85, he was in Paris, France.
