    Willy Aractingi was born in 1930 in New York, USA, and passed away in 2003. A Lebanese painter, Aractingi was known for his vivid, humorous style and naïve primitive approach, reminiscent of Douanier Rousseau.

    Raised in Cairo, Aractingi later settled in Beirut in the 1940s, where he developed his artistic career. He primarily painted scenes of daily life, landscapes, and Lebanese fairy tales, using flat tints and bold colors to create expressive compositions.

    His most ambitious project was the illustration of the 244 Fables of Jean de La Fontaine, which he completed in 1995 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the French fabulist’s birth.
