    Johann Wolfgang Gorius (1932-2003)

    Johann Wolfgang Gorius was born on July 27, 1932 in Hagen, Westphalia, Germany. Recognized for his talent at a young age, he received his first formal painting lessons when he was five years old.

    In 1954/55 he studied at the School of Arts and Crafts in Saarbrücken. He was a master student of Professor Boris Kleint. From 1956/57, he followed studies at the School Beaux-Arts in Montpellier with Professor Descousi.

    Study trips took him to Holland, Belgium, Poland, France and Italy. He exhibited many times at home and abroad. His landscapes often exhibit the influence of Cezanne. He also created abstracts and embraced a modernist, post-cubist style in many of his portraits a...
