    Yakov Dorofeevich Romas (1902–1969) was a Russian painter and graphic artist whose career spanned the formative decades of Soviet art. Born near Grodno in 1902, he received his early training at the Prechistenka Technical Institute before continuing his studies at the Artistic and Theatrical Institute in Moscow. There he worked under several of the most influential figures of early Soviet painting, including N. P. Krymov, K. N. Istomin, S. V. Gerasimov, and P. P. Konchalovsky, whose teachings shaped his approach to colour, composition, and the expressive possibilities of landscape and genre scenes.
