Ye was born in 1958 in Yunnan, China, and graduated from Sichuan Fine Arts Institute. He had participated in and was the leader of "Xinan Art Group", composed by Zhang Xiao Gang, Chou Chunya Pan Dehai, etc. the latter well-known contemporary artists. His solo exhibitions were held in the well-known museums and galleries in the U.S, Britain, and Germany. Ye had fuses Western painting techniques with Chinese traditional paintings, and conveyed the Eastern spirit with simple style. In his works, full of lines and to have both classic and modern painting forms, the artist's nomad-like ease and calmness showed. With characters and unique symbols and languages, they conveyed the blunt, humorous, romantic but absurd atmosphere.
