    Zbigniew Makowski (b.1930)

    He studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw in 1950-1956, graduating at Kazimierz Tmorowicz. At the beginning he tried surrealism - when staying in Paris he contacted André Breton and the international movement Phases. However his other interests influenced mostly on his works.

    Besides painting, Makowski is also a poet and an expert in philosophy and mystic knowledge of many cultures. He uses this knowledge in his paintings, drawings and books that he creates on a special papers. In his works he multiplies symbols, citations, meanings supposedly in a kind of chaos. However critics say that Makowski's works are to be read by intellectually prepared individuals....
