Zlatko Prica was born in Pécs, Hungary into a trading family. After finishing the first grade and the unfortunate breakup of his family, in 1922 he moved with his mother to Zagreb. He continued his education in Zagreb, Croatia and in 1936 enrolled at the Academy of Arts.
