About Zygmunt Rozwadowski

  • Biography

    Zygmunt Rozwadowski studied from 1883 to 1890 at the Krakow School of Fine Arts, including with Jan Matejko, and in 1891-1893 in Munich, in Anton Ažbé's private school.

    While still a student, he made his debut at the TPSP in Krakow, staging under the name Jordan. After studying, he lived in Lviv amd he taught at the Industrial School, exhibited a lot, collaborated in decorating the rooms of the Lviv theater.

    During World War I he fought in the Legions. After the Second World War, he settled in Zakopane. He painted mainly battle paintings from the Napoleonic times and the November Uprising, genre scenes with horse motifs, less often portraits and landscapes.
