In 1943, after handling a grenade found at an American camp, Issiakhem sustained severe injuries leading to the amputation of his left arm. The explosion also resulted in the death of his two sisters and nephew. Issiakhem started his artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts, Algiers, from 1948 to 1951, where he studied fine art... In 1943, after handling a grenade found at an American camp, Issiakhem sustained severe injuries leading to the amputation of his left arm. The explosion also resulted in the death of his two sisters and nephew. Issiakhem started his artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts, Algiers, from 1948 to 1951, where he studied fine art and miniature painting under the instruction of Eugène Bersier, Paul Nicolaï and Mohamed Racim. He then traveled to Paris, where he studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts from 1951 to 1955. After graduating, he left France for... Read full biography
