He became a marine painter and graphic artist who studied as a pupil of the writer and marine painter Franz Müller-Gossen at the painting school in England. He studied from 1905-07 at the Academy Dusseldorf and was a pupil of the marine painter Andreas Dirks. Schloemann died in 1941 on a ship sunk in the Mediterranean by an Italian torpedo boat.
