Having spent some time in the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art, O'Connor exhibited in 1940 at the Munster Fine Art Exhibition in Cork. Having spent some time in the Dublin Metropolitan School of Art, O'Connor exhibited in 1940 at the Munster Fine Art Exhibition in Cork. A year later he obtained a studio in the Town Hall in Killarney and for the next fifty years painted and exhibited at this location.
