Blas Benlliure y Gil (1852-1936), born in Valencia, was an outstanding artist who trained with his father, Juan Antonio Benlliure Tomás, and in the workshops of Domingo Marqués and González de Sepúlveda. Together with his brothers, José, Juan Antonio and Mariano, he lived a period in Rome. Blas collaborated with his brothers on various artistic commissions and became curator and restorer of the prestigious Prado Museum.
