Rolf Andiel was a painter and graphic artist, born in 1927. He was active in Plauen. He began teaching as a designer, and studied from 1942-44 at the State Master School for textile industry (art school) Plauen. From 1950-53, he worked as a poster and decorative painter. From 1953-58, he studied at the College of Fine Arts (HBK) Dresden Erich Fraaß and Rudolf Bergander. Then the artist freelanced in Plauen. In 1959, he became a member of the Association of Fine Artists (VBK) of the GDR. In 1960, he was a circle leader and held an operating agreement with Plamag Plauen. He held numerous exhibitions in the GDR. In 1990, he became a founding member of the Kunstverein Plauen.
