Later he attended the School of Fine Arts at the University of Oaxaca, where he met master Shinzaburo Takeda. On leaving college, he entered the workshop of Maestro Juan Alcázar, where he remained about two years doing engraving. In 1985 he held his first solo exhibition at Sol y Luna. From the early eighties to 1993, his solo exhibitions were held in Mexico, but in 1994 made the leap across the ocean, performing a solo exhibition at Gallery Baudoin Lebon in Paris.
