The locality from which she takes her subjects is the Lofoten Islands, off the coast of Norway, and there she has painted those huge mountains rising out of the sea, surrounded by fleets of fishing boats, which have the same form as the old Viking ships, and the crews of which have not a little of the hardiness and...
