Bronislaw Kierzkowski was born in 1924. In the years 1946–47 he studied at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Lódz under Wladyslaw Strzeminski. He continued his studies in Gdansk, and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw under Eugeniusz Eibisch (1951-55). He obtained his diploma in 1956. He taught there in 1962-63, then at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun and at the Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin (1963-78). From 1978 Kierzkowski returned to the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1987 he was awarded the title of professor. After the informel period and experiments with matter painting, from around 1957 Bronislaw Kierzkowski created his most characteristic plaster reliefs. The artist's works are in public and private, Polish and world collections.
