Iwamoto Masakazu completed his studies at the Sokei Art School in Tokyo in 1996. He is well-known for is anime-style figures which he presents in drawings, sculptures, prints and paintings. His artistic output refers to the Otaku culture which emerged in the 1970s and mainly consisted of male followers who were fascinated by manga comics, anime animation, sci-fi literature and video games. His works were already exhibited at the Musée d’Art Contemporain de Lyon and were also included at the exhibition ‘Little Boy: The Arts of Japan's Exploding Subculture’ organized by the Japan Society in New York in 2005.
