From his childhood onwards Johann Nepomuk Schödlberger demonstrated his graphic talent and therefore received an education as a drawing teacher. He taught at the St. Anna drawing school and at the Zollersche secondary school in Vienna-Neubau. In 1815 he became a member of the Academy of Fine Arts where he lectured from 1816 onwards.
