The daughter of an art gallery owner, Marie Seebold was encouraged at a young age to be an artist. She became well known for her still lifes of fruits and flowers, but also created portraits, landscapes and genre paintings. Marie Seebold studied in New York with William Merritt Chase and in Chicago at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was the second woman member of the New Orleans Art Association. She had a long-term relationship with artist Andres Molinary, whom she married in 1915 shortly... Read full biography

She became well known for her still lifes of fruits and flowers, but also created portraits, landscapes and genre paintings. Marie Seebold studied in New York with William Merritt Chase and in Chicago at the Art Institute of Chicago. She was the second woman member of the New Orleans Art Association. She had a long-term relationship with artist Andres Molinary, whom she married in 1915 shortly before his death. From him she learned the art of restoration, and she cleaned and repaired many paintings in New Orleans. She also worked as a designer and held art classes at the Delgado Museum. Source: .
